Talented local Sopranos Corinne Hart and Rosalind O’Dowd are performing with Surrey-based Opera Foundry for their ‘Opera Obsession’ concert supporting Make-A-Wish Foundation. Both professional singers, Corinne is a post-graduate from the Royal Academy of Music, and Rosalind from Trinity Laban. Having recently performed the concert to great reviews in Guildford, it is sure to be a success in Richmond. Audiences will be able to hear excerpts from La Boheme, Tosca, Hansel and Gretel, Il Trovatore and more. Opera Foundry was formed two years ago under the baton of Surrey-based Musical Director Richard Cartmale, formerly of ENO and continues to build a strong reputation for the quality of it’s music and singers, a mix of fifteen local and London-based professional and pre-professional soloists. Artistic Director Elaine Way, who also lived in Twickenham for six years, is delighted to be returning with her soprano colleagues to perform in the area. ‘We hope to encourage a new generation of opera lovers by presenting opera without the wigs and crinolines, concentrating on the quality of the voices, music and drama – and without the hefty ticket price often associated with hearing opera’. The Opera Obsession concert is being held at Richmond Unitarian Church, Ormond Road, Richmond on Saturday 10th May 7.30pm. Tickets are £10 online from www.operafoundry.com or £11 on the door and include refreshments. The Make-a-Wish Foundation grants magical wishes for children and young people facing life threatening conditions.
