Letter to the Editor: Beautiful poppies in Merantun Way are gone
12:00pm Thursday 21st June 2012 in Wimbledon
By Patricia Johnson, via email
Where have all the poppies gone?
Over the past few weeks, my son and I have admired the beautiful display of poppies, cornflowers and numerous other wild flowers on the central bank in Merantun Way.
We often wondered how many species of wildlife there could be living among this beautiful display of wild flowers.
Then with horror we drove past and the whole bank has been cut down and everything has gone.
We called Merton council and they advised us that Transport for London (TfL) owned the land. Perhaps TfL could explain why it has done this to something so naturally beautiful?
