The removal of recently laid, attractive red brick paving in Raynes Park centre and replacement with ugly grey concrete slabs has left me dumbfounded.  

I was informed by the council the decision was made to "fit in with the new piazza outside Waitrose and give a more contemporary look". 

The grey pavements are already covered in stains and look a total eyesore. 

In times of austerity when essential services are being cut this was a shocking waste of money, as is the Wimbledon station forecourt, and the people responsible should be held to account and removed from their posts.
