It seems a sad list of new books our Wimbledon library had added to their new stock.
What a strange choice – utterly trivial, apart from a few non-fiction books.
Our library had decent tables and oak chairs.
Now, alas, the impression is of a third-rate hotel reception room.
Books in libraries have been downgraded for a long time.
Forty libraries closed last year and book borrowing fell by 34 per cent. One is not surprised.
Who are these librarians who are in charge of finances and choice of books?
