Our parking nightmare: one woman

My husband and I live in an apartment in a small cul-de-sac (with a CPZ).

Finding a parking space for our car has always been hard because many households have two cars, and parking spaces have to be carefully placed in between dropped kerbs and driveways. We have just enough spaces for everyone to fit in.

It has become more of a problem in this last year or so, because some houses have been converted into apartments (meaning more households, and so more cars). We also have a couple of neighbours with infuriating parking habits – one woman in particular insists on parking right in the centre of a two-car space, or leaving a 5ft gap at the end of a three-car space so that only two cars can fit in. It would be understandable if she had to leave herself manoeuvring space, but if she’s parked at the end of the marked space, she can drive straight out anyway.

She mostly drives a small van for her business, so her car is often parked in the same spot for days.

Many times we’ve had to park in another road, purely because of this woman’s selfish and inconsiderate parking. It’s got to that point where I have seriously considered drawing up a set of instructions and posting them through her door!
