Appeal to help re London Marathon

In memory of my Dad In memory of my Dad

Dear Sir/Madam I'm writing this email to see if you can assist me regrading some publicity for my fundraising effort.I will be running the London Marathon this year for Prostate Cancer as I was lucky to have been granted a charity place just 5 weeks ago (as a injured charity runner dropped out).

So I'm up against the clock to reach the mileage (26.2 miles) and my fundraising goal!!!! I have just three weeks before the event. So why am I running for Prostate cancer?....well I'm running in memory of my dad who died of the disease in 1991 aged just 48. This year will be the 20th anniversary since my dad passed away. I'm 36 years old this year and thought it would be a fitting way to remember my dad. The charity is close to my heart due to the help they provide and particularly as I don't feel Prostate Cancer receives the same media coverage as other cancer types.

Sadly, it is the most common form of cancer in men and 37,000 are diagnosed with the disease each year. This type of cancer is curable if caught early enough, the problem is, and was in my dad's case , is that by the time symptoms of the disease occur it may have spread beyond any successful treatment. So the key to battling this disease is to raise awareness. Men can undergo a simple blood test at their doctor's to see if they my be susceptible to this type of cancer.

Well , I really hope you can help as I only have 3 weeks left before the Marathon (17th April). I have managed to raise £700 so far but still have £1300 to raise. I am seeking any help from the local community/businesses etc. I have set up a page on the justgiving website which is www.Justgiving.com/Joanne-Price1 I have never run a Marathon before and the training is tough going . I'm up to 19.5 miles and with a bit of grit and determination I hope to achieve 26.2 on the day.

Please, Please can you print an article and help me raise money for this truly worthy cause Kind Regards Based on information supplied by Joanne Price.
