It being Big Garden Birdwatch last weekend, I was ready with pen and paper to record the birds in my garden, when my neighbour rang to say that a pheasant was sitting on his trellis fence. Sure enough, to my astonishment, a large, plump Cock Pheasant was perched in his garden ! Given that Hillier Road must be several miles from the nearest farmland, I can only guess that the magnificent bird must have escaped from a local children's zoo,or was being kept as a pet. Unless they are now breeding on Wandsworth Common ?
Have any other residents had this experience ?
I wonder if the RSPB will believe my submission ?
Sincerely, Hubert Dagnall.
