On the back page of the Sutton Guardian (last two weeks) there is information from Sutton Council regarding the garden waste collection.

According to the consultation about “Sutton’s Future” many residents wanted to keep the service.

True, but definitely not the wheeled bin.

The majority of the people who attended the consultation stated they did not want “yet another bin”, especially those who would have to drag their bin through the house or keep it in their front garden along with the other two, making the streets look so unsightly.

How can it be cleaner or easier to move around the garden. Elderly folk who take pride in their gardens would not be able to pull a full 240 litre bin around.

Garden sacks were preferred either plastic or biodegradable, so why is the council not offering the sacks, it is what we want.

I get the overall feeling that they want to stop the service altogether and they found a devious way to do this by asking residents what they wanted then offering them the complete opposite. Liberal Democrats will not be getting my local council vote next year.
