Foot massages for unruly children? Whatever next?
12:08pm Thursday 13th November 2008 in Your Say
Having just read your front page article, Toe the Line, I felt I must write to say this is perhaps the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard.
Foot massages for unruly kids? Whatever next? Fair enough if the council had money to burn, but Lambeth has already had to make a number of key cutbacks this year.
What must the people who have been told they won’t be able to plant trees in a memorial service this year because of a lack of funding think of this nonsense?
Or those in council houses whose rent is going up this year? Yes, some of them may be parents of said unruly children who are due to get their feet massaged if they do not, as you say, toe the line. But many will not be, and will presumably be outraged that their council taxes are being spent in this manner. It is not a case of a couple of hundred pounds, but £90,000.
I hope this is worth the money, and I sincerely hope I’m proven wrong, but it just seems odd that pupils who misbehave, ruining the schooldays of hardworking children, are treated to a luxury others have to pay good money for.
