Your recent article on the Jolly Butcher on Kingston Road (“New lease of life for ‘ghetto’ pub, Staines Guardian, January 8) displays a serious lack of journalistic investigation.
As a happy customer of this pub for many years perhaps I may clear up a few points as obviously nobody has bothered to visit the premises prior to writing about it.
The pub is not closed and never has been.
Please check police records to show the amount of times police have been called and then compare them to the high street pubs in Staines.
The comments from the councillor show he has no knowledge or has even bothered to check the facts before putting mouth before brain.
The simple fact is that this pub has been a decent watering hole for many families for many years and has a trouble free social gathering most pubs can only dream of.
If any fault is to be cast it would be with the serious lack of funding from the current owners who could easily eliminate any gathering of youths outside (as with other pubs) with lighting and cameras.
