Turbulent times for BA

Living in a part of Spelthorne heavily dependent for employment on British Airways (BA), I have been concerned to hear of the troubles the airline is currently experiencing.

BA announced a steep fall in profits last week. This we are told is due to sky-high fuel costs and less demand for air travel. The airline also has round its neck the ball and chain of a pension deficit.

This, of course, has shot up since the market slump.

Willie Walsh himself has said that probably 30 or more airlines will go bust before Christmas. Let's hope BA is not among them.
