A day to remember

12:00pm Thursday 13th November 2008

The Shepperton Town Remembrance Day service was again wonderfully well attended, and it was so refreshing to see so many young people from our local junior school, the scouts, guides, cubs and brownies taking part in this moving ceremony.

This is what makes the community spirit in Shepperton grow from strength to strength each year.

May I through the good auspices of your column take this opportunity to thank both Shepperton Rotary Club for providing the public address system and road stewards, the Rev Chris Swift and the choir of St Nicholas Church for conducting the service, the police for traffic control, our bugler, Nick Tidbury, all who laid wreaths and came to pay their respects on this memorable day, and to everyone who gave so generously to the Poppy Appeal.

God bless you all.
