Tesco trolley problem could leave store with 'blood on its hands'
1:30pm Wednesday 12th November 2008 in Your Say
I totally agree with Victor Agarwal on the trolleys at Tesco stores within the Ashford area (Feedback, November 6).
I complained to Tesco head office about trolleys being left all over the car parks. I have witnessed and been on the receiving end of trolley damage to my car and other cars.
It is a combination of lazy people who cannot walk their own selfish backside to place the trolleys in the collection points, and slow rounding up by staff.
I have challenged shoppers before about returning their trolley only to be given a mouthful of abuse.
My solution was for Tesco to phase in the refund type trolley as operated by Asda. It does not seem to have this problem.
Over a year now since I wrote, and still the problem exists. If £1 does not entice shoppers to return their trolley, then make it £2.
Something needs to be done.
Damaging personal property can lead to verbal and physical altercations that can escalate, to the point of someone losing their life.
Does Tesco want blood on its hands for not managing this problem?
