Regarding your report last week on the Sipson rally.
What I'm really disappointed about is Spelthorne Council's failure to support the campaign, and the relative lack of support from our area (after all, if they get a third runway it won't be long before they come back for a fourth - which will go through Stanwell).
Of course only one local newspaper, the Staines Guardian, gave any details about what was happening.

Tony O'Rourke, Ashford says...
1:28pm Mon 6 Oct 08
Even though I leave my bins out so as not to obstruct the pavement, once emptied, the collectors cannot be bothered to replace it where they picked it up.If I happened to leave for work after they have been, the bin would be obstructing the pathway all day. Not very good for mobility scooters, wheel chair users, buggies or the blind. We live on a main road and in gusty winds, the empty bin could be pushed into the path of traffic causing an accident.
On the subject of the council, we in Ashford East are having an election. I had a knock at the door from a Conservative representative. I told him that I vote Tory, but unless Spelthorne heeds the National Party line on weekly collections I would be voting for another party. I hope other residents in this ward, who are against fortnightly refuse collections as is Mr. Camerons party, show their disapproval by voting accordingly.
