Regarding the item of news about the Staines reservoir in the Guardian on May 29.
I am writing as I hope that you will know more of the situation than I do.
More than 30 years ago, there was an old retired policeman in this area called Mr Mac (McKinnon I think), who told me that the reservoirs were made by prisoners of war who dug and lined the reservoirs with clay.
My concern is that if they start digging for gravel in the reservoir, what is going to happen to the water stored there?
