Beddington Lane, Croydon Road, Carshalton Road…it seems wherever you look these days you are confronted with rubbish.
Great piles of discarded cans, dumped mattresses, paper streamers hanging in the trees, ditches filled with plastic bags. A moonscape of filth.
I have complained several times to Merton Council about the state of the verges on these roads and yet my complaints are ignored and nothing has been done. The council have the power to clean up what is theirs and the power to force the owners of private land to do the same. The local councillors seem disinterested and the piles grow ever higher. It’s disgusting and it encourages further littering and dumping.
As they seem intent on pretending the problem will go away, perhaps they would like to respond through your pages?
