David Devons, the Chair of the Wimbledon and Putney Commons Conservators, is being disingenuous about the sale of land at Putney Common in his letter of the 15th of July.

He has in fact sold the rights to build and access private roads on commons land which will have exactly the same effect.

These rights are not licensed in the short term, they will be in place permanently.

What is more he has also traded land on Putney Lower Common for some in Stag Lane, just off the A3 near Asda.

Both of these actions are in contravention of the 1871 Act, as he will find when a Judicial Review in the High Court considers the case later this year.
