I don't very often feel the need to put pen to paper, but I do not feel that I can let the letter from the prospective Liberal Democrat candidate go unanswered (MP sacrificing human rights, October 9).

I was born in 1941, and in all those years I have never felt I need, or felt without, human rights. The Macmillan, Hume, Wilson, Thatcher, Major years, not once did I feel at risk or in need of more human rights than I already had. Then along come Blair, who signs us up to this great new act.

Reading Stephen Gee's letter I should be feeling so safe, so grateful to all the politicos. But I am sure that many like me feel a big brother dictating, on issues, that do not in anyway concern them.

But the final say on what people feel will be in May next year, when I foresee Stephen gee may be hanging on to his deposit if he is lucky.

And then maybe we will not have to read absolute nonsense that he writes in our Epsom Guardian anymore.

As for the last paragraph, the voting public will give their verdict as to whether  they are ashamed of their MP.

I must finally say that I do not vote for Mr Grayling but do not like to read such rubbish that is so unbalanced by a party that will be decimated and wonder why.
