Top Films of 2008

2008 was a weird year for me and my movie watching habit. Partly because I rediscovered my love of all things video game related. So naturally, I had less time to dedicate to films because of this.

Anyway, I managed to squeeze a few titles in:

1 – The Dark Knight
For being the Batman film I have always wanted to see.

2 – Sweeney Todd
Murder with a good bit of melody thrown in.

3 – Hellboy 2
The imagination on display in this flick is sheer genius in my opinion.

4 – King of Kong
A movie which confirmed that there are bigger geeks out there than myself.

5 – Iron Man
It's Bond, the Aviator and Transformers all thrown into one

Other worthy mentions:
Rec
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
Quantum of Solace
The Incredible Hulk
No Country For Old Men
Pineapple Express
How to lose friends and alienate people

Ones I missed, but plan on seeing soon:
There Will Be Blood
The Mist
Son of Rambo
Cloverfield
Burn After Reading
Hancock
In Bruges
The Ruins
W.

Can't believe Wall-E isn't mentioned here. It was easily my film of the year, managing to be funny, sweet and moving as well as visually staggering all at once. He's really cute too.

I loved Mike Leigh's Happy Go Lucky too. It's a character-driven comedy/drama about a primary school teacher who's always happy and nice to people - no matter what happens to her. We could all learn from that, I think. Heartwarming and lovely - go watch it now.

Juno was brilliant, certainly had the best dialogue of the year and, chick-flick-****-cash
-cow it may be, Sex and the City had me whooping and weeping with the best of them - and did the fans very proud.
