Not so quite on the Weston front

Posted on 11:34am Thursday 2nd July 2009

Notts County’s hierarchy are livid because one of their players has left to sign for the mighty Bees, with the Magpies chairman John Armstrong-Holmes and their loveable gaffer Ian ‘the Brain’ McParland pouring scorn on their former left winger Myles Weston.

FOKER'S MOVIE REVIEW - PUBLIC ENEMIES

Posted on 11:03pm Tuesday 30th June 2009

John Dillinger was probably the most famous gangster in American history and it’s hard to believe that his fame only lasted 14 months from May 1933 to July 1934. It’s this period in Dillinger’s life that director Michael Mann invites us to experience. From the very opening prison break sequence Dillinger is already ‘Public Enemy Number One’, no background story just a suave, calculated outlaw. An anti-hero to the people more Butch Cassidy than Robin Hood who robbed the very banks that were the prime cause of the depression and he gave the finger to the government who were incapable of repairing the damage (all sounds very familiar?) and who better cast to play this master criminal than Johnny Depp?

The Dagenham Three

Posted on 5:12pm Thursday 18th June 2009

The worst kept secret in football was finally confirmed this week. No, it wasn’t Ronaldo completing his protracted transfer to Real Madrid, rather it was the fact that Brentford announced the signing of three players from Dagenham & Redbridge – Sam Saunders, Ben Strevens and Danny Foster.

Promotion: It's official!

Posted on 3:25pm Thursday 11th June 2009

Brentford have officially been promoted. How do I know? Because, after a couple of depressing years of heading straight to the League Two section of the BBC website for Bees news (always after a trip to the excellent sports section of rttimes.co.uk of course!) we have finally been shifted to the League One link.

The man with no brain...

A fortnight ago, with fireworks smoke barely cleared from the sky above the Griffin Park, our gaffer Andy Scott gave nine players the chop in a cull as ruthless as any of Stalin’s purges.

FOKER'S MOVIE REVIEW - 'STAR TREK'

Posted on 10:28pm Tuesday 12th May 2009

I’d like to thank a certain Jeffrey Jacob Abrams for bringing back a popular classic to our cinemas. Back in the day, Star Trek was one of the most popular TV programs in the Universe, well at least in my little corner of Surrey. And to think it only ran for three years from 1966 to 1969. Then in 1979 Star Trek The Motion Picture hit the screens and the franchise continued into the early 90’s until The Next Generation took over.
