DISGUST TO A MUST

THE TRANSFORMATION OF STREATHAM

Many people have known Streatham as one of the ‘worst highstreets ‘in London (according to BBC ’Britons article in 2002). However, the Streatham community and Lambeth council have taken their own approach to change the negative image associated with the area. Following the closure of Morrison's in 2015, the building remained untouched and empty for two years. Many believed this was a sign of a down turn for Streatham and its local economy. However, it has been announced three new stores are set to open during the end of the year. One being Marks & Spencer’s; which is sure to attract those with a love of high quality food. The official opening will be in October. Aldi has also confirmed a launch in November whilst a brand-new gym will be placed beside Aldi during the end of October (according to the Lambeth council). The aim is to create a wide variety of customers from different backgrounds and improve the opportunities of jobs.

 What Do Local people think?
