A beautiful part of Christmas apart from the Christmas trees, lights and food is the concerts and carol singing. This year at a local Polish church a choir of children aged 6-15 put on a show that was out of this world. Literally.

For this year’s theme they decided to have two spacemen visiting humans at Christmas and seeing what they get up to. The show contained dialogue, humour and of course wonderful singing. The concert included professional musicians playing instruments including: guitars, electric and acoustic, violin, drums and keyboard.

It was lovely to see young people so involved and working in a team. Seeing the two spacemen learning about the different traditions at Christmas in both Polish and English houses was also very special.

The children sang in Polish and English, for example one song was to the tune of We Will Rock You except the words were changed to match the meaning of Christmas and spreading Christmas cheer and wishes.

Here’s what a member of the audience had to say about the concert:

Q: What did you think of the concert?

A: I thought the concert was really great fun. The children sang so well and the musicians played amazingly.

Q: What made it special?

A: You could really tell the children and their teachers put in a lot of work and effort to put on such a performance. Everyone worked together and you could see them enjoying themselves.

Q: What was your favourite part?

A: I really liked the space and rock theme/vibe the concert had to it and the guitar solos and singing solos were very impressive.

As you can see the show was a great success and I look forward to seeing the new theme next year. As Christmas is now over it’s time for a new start, happy New Year!
