On-loan forward Landon Donovan believes his short-term spell with Everton has been a success as he prepares for his final match with the club this weekend.
The United States international has been recalled by Major League Soccer club Los Angeles Galaxy - whose season starts on March 27 - despite the Toffees trying to gain an extension to the 10-week deal. After Galaxy coach Bruce Arena stressed Donovan's attendance was required in Los Angeles in four days' time Everton conceded defeat in their attempts to keep Donovan.
"When I think of everything at Everton I want to think of the trip as a whole and think that I have been successful," he told evertonTV ahead of his final game at Birmingham on Saturday. "It has been fantastic and I could never have expected when I got here that it would turn out like this."
He added: "The fans want you to play as hard as you can when you are out there.
"That is what I like to give when I am out there and they want to see the team win."
