Former England captain Michael Vaughan is set to sit out this winter's tour of India, according to a report on Friday night.
The Daily Telegraph claims Vaughan has decided to take a two-month break from the game.
Vaughan, 33, vowed to fight for his England place when he stood down as captain last month, but his form has deserted him.
He has scored just 41 runs in his last four innings for Yorkshire and his place on the India tour was in doubt despite being awarded a central contract for the next year.
A decision to take a break would spare the selectors a difficult decision over whether to take him to the sub-continent in November and December.
He could now work on his game away from the limelight with a view to returning and fighting for his place in next summer's Ashes series.
