Former Sutton Tennis Academy member Chris Eaton needs to be careful what he wishes for after crashing out of the men’s doubles on a show court at the Wimbledon Championships.
The big serving 23-year-old provided one of the shocks on the fortnight when he and partner Dominic Inglot beat number one seeds Daniel Nestor and Nenad Zimonjic 7-5, 5-7, 7-6, 6-7, 8-6 in a thriller at SW19 on Saturday.
Eaton, who was the centre of British attention in 2008 when his booming deliveries helped him beat Boris Pasanski in the 2008 singles, joked he wanted to be on a court with a speed gun to see how fast his Inglot’s serve actually was.
He got what he had hoped for with a third round appearance on court number 18, but sadly the pair’s run was halted by French 14th seeds Julien Benneteau and Michael Llodra 2-6, 6-3, 6-4, 6-4 on Monday.
