Britain’s number one doubles player Ross Hutchins saw his AEGON Championships opener brought to a premature end as the heavens opened over west London, writes Craig Chisnall.
Hutchins and Australia’s Stephen Huss received a bye in the first round and they were forced off court as the rain came down with the scores at 4-4 in the first set of their second round clash with Julien Benneteau and Michael Llodra The eighth seeds will resume their contest with the French pair – who overcame Croatian wild cards Marin Cilic and Ivan Ljubicic in straight sets in round one – today (Thursday).
The Wimbledon-born ace is bidding to reach his first final of 2009, having reached the last four of tournaments in Marseilles and San Jose earlier this year.
