Champions: Quins celebrate lifting the Premiership title on Saturday

Conor O'Shea has warned the rest of the rugby world that the Aviva Premiership title is only the start for Harlequins.

Quins' director of rugby saw his side secure a maiden English title triumph with a thrilling 30-23 over Leicester Tigers at Twickenham on Saturday, having led the Premiership since the third game of the season.

It concluded a remarkable turnaround in fortunes for a club that was relegated from the top flight just six season ago and marred by the Bloodgate scandal three years ago.

But O'Shea is not content for their rise back to prominence to end there and wants more.

"Good teams win, great teams kick on and this group of players won't be allowed to rest on their laurels," he said.

"There was 10 years of ducking and diving to get the club to where it is and there is a long way to go.

"This can only be the start, that is all it is.

"It is a great day for what it is but, come June 24, we will be back into pre-season and hopefully another week 48 will happen next year."

O'Shea was also quick to praise the work behind the scenes that has gone into turning Quins into a rugby force once more.

"Winning this is a massive tribute to a lot of people," he added.

"The owners who have put so much of their time and money in.

"To Dean Richards who put so many of the structures in place at the club and to Mark Evans and Charles Jillings as well.

"I have got a fantastic group of players but also John Kingston (head coach), Colin Osborn (assistant first team coach), Tony Diprose (first team coach), Mark Mapletoft (assistant coach), and our conditionists and medics who got, I won't say our first team but our most experienced team, on the pitch at the end of week 48 and that is a massive tribute to them.

"I am very lucky, I drink a lot of coffee and I enjoy the job I do and the structure around the club."
