Richmond’s Rowena Burnfield, Rachael Burford, Rebecca Essex and Amy Turner helped England Women secure a seventh successive Six Nations title and a Grand Slam at Esher RFC on Saturday.
Skipper Katy McLean lifted the trophy after a 23-6 win over Ireland on St Patrick’s Day at Molesey Road, hours before England’s men beat the men in green 30-9 at a rainswept Twickenham.
The women finished the campaign unbeaten and defended their title without conceding a try – the first side to achieve that feat.
