Streatham and Croydon RFC could clinch the Surrey Three title by the end of the month after opening up an eight-point gap at the top of the table, writes James Haggis.
A 43-14 win over Old Amplefordians last Saturday increased their lead at the top over Economicals, who they have a game in hand on, and now means they could guarantee a swift promotion to Surrey Two when they meet derby rivals Mitcham on March 31.
Streatham, who have dropped points just once this season, were in fine form in the first half against Amplefordians as they built up a 30-point lead.
Andrew Venables, captain Garvin Toussaint and prop Damien Darlington were among those to score and although the second half was predictably harder, Streatham ran out comfortable winners.
They take on London Media at home on Saturday.
