Keeper passes 1000 games at Goals
11:22am Friday 8th June 2012 in Local Sports Round-up By Graham Moody, Sports Reporter
Dave Triphook joined an exclusive club last Wednesday when he became the first player to make 1,000 five-a-side appearances at Goals Sutton.
The 50-year-old from Sutton, who has played for club’s including Dumbarton and Epsom Rangers, reached the landmark playing for Has Beens in their 9-6 victory over the Hurricanes.
He has won the vets player of the season before and was delighted with his record.
“It’s a great landmark to reach,” he said.
“I knew it was close and I’ve heard it mentioned a few times, but it’s not the sort of thing that I go home and make a note of after every game.
“But I’m told I’ve been playing six times a week for the past six years.”
“Since Goals Sutton first opened in 2006, Dave has become one of the most recognisable faces offering his goalkeeping services to pretty much any team that needs him,” added the centre’s manager Sam Edgar.
“He’s a role model to aspiring keepers.”
