Wandsworth's sporting heroes sought for awards

Nominations are now being accepted for the 14th Active Wandsworth Sports Awards, which take place in March.

The awards acknowledge and reward coaches, volunteers, sportsmen and women and clubs that have worked hard and achieved sporting goals this year, whether as a team or as an individual.

Last year, teenage Balham athlete Katie Snowden won the sports personality of the year award.

The award categories are sports club of the year,voluntary services to sport, outstanding contribution to sport, young volunteer of the year, team of the year, coach of the year, junior sports personality of the year (13 and under) and sports personality of the year (21 and under).

There is also a mayor’s award for individuals and organisations who have made significant contributions to disability sport.

Nomination forms can be found at wandsworth.gov. uk/active and the deadline for nominations is February 3, with the evening itself taking place on March 8.
