Banstead Downs Golf Club star Ross McGowan remains in the hunt to qualify for next month’s US Masters at Augusta.
The 27-year-old, who lives in Cheam, must break into the world’s top 50 before the end of March to land a shot at the famous green jacket.
McGowan is currently ranked 66th in the world and 37th in Europe having scooped more than £120,000 in prize money already this season after finishing tied in 30th at the WGC - CA Championship in Florida on Sunday.
He jets to Spain next week to play the Open de Andalucia de Golf in Malaga, his last chance to improve his ranking in time to receive an invitation to the first Major of the season in Georgia.
McGowan played his first WGC event - the Accenture World Match Play - last month thanks to Tiger Woods’ withdrawal and his efforts at the weekend mean he retains a grip on a qualifying place in the race to reach the Ryder Cup held at Celtic Manor in October.
