Battersea welterweight prospect Bradley “Super” Skeete will not underestimate opponent Giovanni Michael Frontin in this Friday’s eight round showdown at York Hall in Bethnal Green.

The 24-year-old former Earlsfield ABC star has won all five of his fights since turning professional and is hoping to extend that run to six against the Mauritian, who is well known to the boxing world for having lost the 2006 Commonwealth Games lightweight final to Frankie Gavin.

But, despite Frontin having a record of only three wins in 15 outings with 13 of them lasting the distance, Skeete knows he will be fighting a very creditable opponent.

“I’m not taking anything for granted,” he said.

“Frontin’s record does not reflect his credibility in the ring so he knows his stuff.

“I’ve seen him box a few times, he’s had some very close results and he can box so he is no mug.”

The fight is one of eight on the undercard of Streatham’s Leon Williams’s defence of his Commonwealth cruiserweight title against Shane McPhilbin.
