Craig enhances lake's reputation
Old Bury Hill's Temple Lake is gaining a reputation as one of the top specimen carp water in the country, writes Ray Robson.
Regular visitor Craig Hess has banked four fish over the magical 30lb mark in just over a week - topped by a 31lb 4oz mirror carp.
Fishing peg 13, Hess cast his mainline pulse dumbbell boilie to the island, accompanied by a PVA bag of pellets and chopped boilies.
Some great tench and bream catches are also being reported in the main lake at Old Bury Hill.
Dave Turner, a coach driver from Kingston, banked eight tench to 6lb and lots of bream with a couple just over the 6lb mark.
Fishing the feeder with red maggot and two rods on the bank, he hooked into a very big carp although his 4lb line wasn't up to the fight and the fish snapped him.
Bob Atkins landed a personal best 28lb 2oz common carp at Whytevane.
When he called me a couple of weeks ago, I suggested he try the oak tree swim at the Horsham venue, using Carp Company's Icelandic red boilies. I am glad to say it did the trick!
