Olympian Natalie wins among the bluebells
Out in front: Saturday's winner Natalie Harvey Don Esslemont
Out in front: Saturday's winner Natalie Harvey Don Esslemont

Olympian Natalie Harvey set a new women's record in the Banstead Woods 5km time trial to finish overall winner of Saturday morning's 49th running of the weekly race.

Harvey, who originally competed for Australia but now runs for South London Harriers and Great Britain, clocked 17 minutes 19 seconds to finish 10 seconds clear of Stragglers' Wayne Smith, the first man.

Although it was Harvey's first run in the event, she is familiar with Banstead Woods and uses it for training.

Tadworth's over-40 veteran David Freeman was third (17:42) and South London Harriers' Dan Gillett fourth (17:54).

Fifth finisher and second woman was another event debut Lydia Lythgoe (18:14), while over-45 veteran Penny Hubbard of Sutton Runners was more than five minutes behind as third woman (23:18).

Teenager Lynton Lythgoe was seventh (18:15) out of a field of 123.

Collingwood's Andrew Stalley's sterling work as a volunteer and steady improvement as a runner was rewarded with the weekly Sweatshop shoe prize.

Result: 1 Natalie Harvey (South London Harriers) 17:19, 2 Wayne Smith (Stragglers) 17:29, 3 David Freeman (Tadworth) 17:42, 4 Daniel Gillett (South London Harriers) 17:54, 5 Lydia Lythgoe 18:14, 6 David Sinclair (South London Harriers) 18:15, 7 Lynton Lythgoe (Ashford AC) 18:15, 8 Andy Davis (South London Harriers) 18:30, 9 Roland Townson 18:57, 10 Joseph Hook 19:11, 11 Simon Rosser (South London Harriers) 19:42, 12 Dave Wilson (26.2 RRC) 20:05, 13 John Foss 20:14, 14 James Walker 20:15, 15 Jason Carter 20:18, 16 Steve Wise (Sutton Runners) 20:27, 17 Brieuc Lehmann (Wickham Avenue Strollers) 20:32, 18 Andrew Stalley (Collingwood) 20:35, 19 Patrick Tiernan (26.2 RRC) 20:48, 20 Greg Mills 20:59, 21 Jerry Twomey (South London Harriers) 21:04, 22 Robert Li (Road Runners Club) 21:09, 23 Rob Clayton 21:11, 24 Ian Rustige (Reigate Priory) 21:12, 25 Dominic Aslangul 21:25, 26 Harvey Hughes (South London Harriers), 27 Natalie Wilson (Reigate Priory) 21:33, 28 Sam Ackerman 21:38, 29 Chris Murray 21:54, 30 unknown athlete 22:01, 31 David Poulter 22:01, 32 Joe Edwards 22:10, 33 Kingsley Wyke-Little 22:29, 34 Peter Searle 22:49, 35 Martin Mabbutt 22:51, 36 Phil Knight 22:57, 37 Luke Oman 23:01, 38 Martin Lloyd (Collingwood) 23:07, 39 Peter Foulkes 23:13, 40 John Miller 23:17, 41 Sean Sadler 23:24, 42 Penny Hubbard 23:25, 43 Susan Boros 23:27, 44 John MacMillan 23:34, 45 Kate Green23:45, 46 Charles Green 23:46, 47 Jane Papa 23:47, 48 Cayman Darius Wyke-Little 24:01, 49 Sara Everett 24:02, 50 Valerie Cooper (Epsom Oddballs) 24:03, 51 Neil Sunderland (26.2 RRC) 24:06, 52 Ted Baker (Reigate Priory) 24:10, 53 Richard Dunstan (Petts Wood Runners) 24:15, 54 Didier Lehmann (Wickham Avenue Strollers) 24:25, 55 Ian Field (South London Harriers) 24:39, 56 Paul Crockford 24:50, 57 Andy Oman (Epsom Oddballs) 25:05, 58 Matthew Pont 25:09, 59 Mary Matthews (Tadworth) 25:18, 60 Christopher Shortt (Epsom & Ewell Harriers) 25:26, 61 Jonathan Anstee 25:29, 62 Peter Warnock 25:40, 63 Kaeli Zonfrillo (Epsom & Ewell Harriers) 25:40, 64 Andy Zonfrillo 25:41, 65 Vanessa Anstee 25:43, 66 Alan Matthews (Tadworth) 25:44, 67 Stewart Howe (Sutton Runners) 26:13, 68 Matthew Searle 26:16, 69 Kieran Cummins 26:26, 70 Jo Robinson 26:35, 71 Kaye Benjamin (Sutton Runners) 26:41, 72 John Allen (Collingwood) 26:47, 73 Ryan Burnett 26:57, 74 Julie Ann Press 26:57, 75 Michael Crimmen (26.2 RRC) 27:10, 76 Craig Rawlings (Sutton & District) 27:11, 77 Steven Clarke (Sutton Runners) 27:18, 78 Warren Gwillym 27:23, 79 Sally Davis 27:37, 80 Kathy Wetherall (Epsom Allsorts) 27:38, 81 Zoe Hocking (Epsom Allsorts) 27:43, 82 Sam Hills 27:58, 83 Lesley Coonan (Epsom Allsorts) 28:02, 84 Hannah Stockden 28:09, 85 Ernie Hudson (26.2 RRC) 28:19, 86 Joseph Tiernan 28:21, 87 Fee Pooloo (Epsom Allsorts) 28:26, 88 Penny Murphy (Epsom Allsorts) 28:28, 89 Susan Esslemont (Epsom Allsorts) 28:30, 90 Daz Colier 28:34, 91 Jamie Oman 28:37, 92 Matthew Jeffery 28:40, 93 Charlie Mabbutt 28:47, 94 Kate Hubner 29:23, 95 Gez Parks 29:39, 96 Christian Brooks 29:40, 97 Rachel Standford 29:43, 98 Mike Bryant (26.2 RRC) 29:44, 99 Dinah Mabbutt 30:09, 100 Sue McIntyre (Epsom Oddballs) 30:29, 101 Charles Oliver John Duncan-King 30:36, 102 Oliver Duncan-King 30:37, 103 Lisa Shennan (Collingwood) 30:39, 104 Nicola Homersham (Epsom Allsorts) 30:40, 105 Patricia Cue (Sutton Runners) 30:44, 106 Greg Bryant (Sutton Runners) 30:45, 107 Allan Kuhar 30:47, 108 Aaron Oman 31:37, 109 Debbie Glithero 31:49, 110 Ben Glithero 31:50, 111 Cornelia Cardew 31:52, 112 Lucy Bowskill 32:26, 113 James Cartwright (Epsom Oddballs) 32:28, 114 Phyllis Flynn (Stragglers) 32:29, 115 Annie Hills 32:31, 116 Michele Martin 32:35, 117 Rowena Dailey 32:43, 118 George Frogley 32:57, 119 Leah Purvis 34:58, 120 Julie Bowskill 34:59, 121 Laura Jeffery 36:18, 122 Lauren Hall 36:47, 123 Christopher Hall 36:48.
