Molesey Boat Club’s Andrew Triggs-Hodge has dismissed rumours Team GB rowing coach Jurgen Grobler is about to overhaul the men’s squad ahead of the London Olympics.
Triggs-Hodge and Pete Reed could be parachuted into the men’s four for the Games having spent the past year playing second fiddle to New Zealanders Hamish Bond and Eric Murray in the pairs event.
Grobler has 18 men in his squad but only has 14 Olympic seats to fill, with the Team GB rowers preparing for World Cup selection trials on March 11 – the first step on the road to the London Olympics.
“I can officially say it’s far from done,” said Triggs-Hodge.
Triggs-Hodge and Reed may replace Matt Langridge and Ric Egington in the four, which would put pressure on the Molesey contingent – including Greg Searle – currently competing in the men’s eight crew.
