Magnificent seven for Bradley Skeete

Bradley Skeete reckons fighting 'The Rock' Laszlo Komjathi last Friday at York Hall in Bethnal Green was the first real step up for him in his professional boxing career.

The 24-year-old welterweight prospect from Battersea and former Earlsfield ABC rep scored a resounding eight round 80-71 points success over the tough experienced Hungarian native to move to seven wins from seven professional fights.

And Skeete, who took the fight at just three days notice while preparing for his March 16 date at Wembley Arena, knew his 36-year-old opponent would provide him with a proper test.

"I knew from the moment I took this fight that Komjathi was going to be tough," said the Battersea man who put Komjathi down in the third round.

"He's fought some fighters who have since become either British, European or World champions, like Amir Khan, Michael Jennings, Giuseppe Lauri, Gianluca Branco, Stefano Zoff and Souleymane M'baye so he's no push over and this fight was the first real step up for me.

"I had him down in the third round, if it wasn't for my damaged left hand I would have stopped him 100% for sure.

"But I just stuck to my boxing and got the full eight rounds under my belt which will help me in the future.

"I need to fight these kinds of people like Komjathi to get where I want to get."
