Kim Harris insists there is no cause for alarm at Corinthian Casuals despite the amateurs failing to gain a point from their first four games of the Ryman Division One South season.
The see-saw 4-3 home defeat to Whitehawk on Saturday extended Casuals’ poor run, leaving them one place off the bottom of the early table.
But assistant manager Harris reckons better times are on the way.
He said: “Obviously the Whitehawk game was disappointing, but I do not think form is an issue for us yet.
“We have improved an awful lot from our first game this season and I know we will turn it around.
“We are scoring goals, but we have had a lot of players missing or injured so it has been a little bit choppy on that front.
“Naturally we are not pleased to have zero points but we are definitely on the right track.”
Three times Corinthians took the lead against Whitehawk thanks to Kane Sargeant, David Ocquaye and Joel Thompson, only to surrender that lead in a game of four penalties.
And Harris admitted his side were still getting to grips with the new influx of referees at their level.
He added: “It was all very strange really.
“We have been getting a lot of younger refs recently and they seem to have been watching a bit too much television.
“Three of the penalties were given for pulling at corners and it will take a bit of getting used to.
“It was unbelievable but we will learn from it.
“Now we will change our attention to the FA Cup and Erith and Belvedere.
“If we can get a win in the FA Cup it will give us a boost and put some more money in the coffers, which is vital for us as a club.”
Corinthian Casuals’ next three matches: Sep 11 Erith and Belvedere (FAC, h), 18 Whitstable Town (h), 21 Leatherhead (h)
