Brentford forward Robbie Simpson admits the excitement is already building for his side’s Carling Cup clash with Premier League Everton later this month.

Tickets for the eagerly awaited clash went on sale last week after the Bees shocked Championship side Hull City 2-1 at Griffin Park in August.

Simpson netted Brentford’s first goal with a delightful free-kick - before Marcus Bean bundled in a late winner - to help set up the dream date on September 21.

Although he revealed drawing the Toffeemen was tinged with a little disappointment.

“When the draw was made, everyone was happy,” he said.

“A lot of the boys wanted one of the top four, but Everton are right up there.

“They are a European team with a number of fantastic players.

“The atmosphere at Griffin Park is amazing anyway, so imagine what it will be like if it is a sell-out.

“It will be exciting just to play in the game, let alone win it.”
