Chipstead let an early slip last night as they lost 2-1 at Folkestone Invicta.
Centre forward Darren Watson scored his second goal in as many games to give the Chips a fifth minute lead when he nodded home Josh Smith’s cross.
But their lead lasted just five minutes as they failed to clear Jimmy Jackson’s right-wing corner and when the striker crossed back in Andy Pugh was on hand to level matters.
Chips were indebted to decent saves from keeper James Wastell in the lead up to half time, though Watson could have had a penalty at the other end when he went down in the box but the referee waved away the protests.
The away side were caught napping within a minute of the restart though when Jackson hit what proved to be the winning goal with a great strike from outside the penalty area.
Invicta could have added to their lead before the end when Jackson hit the crossbar, while Chipstead almost grabbed a point but Gavin Quintyne’s shot was well saved and Fred Flemming headed wide from Richard Williams’ free-kick.
