AFC Wimbledon legend Marcus Gayle may be about to hang up his boots, but boss Terry Brown believes he has a future at the club as a coach should he want it, writes Stuart Amos.
Gayle, 37, a member of the Dons side that reached the FA Cup semi- finals in 1997, is set to quit playing at the end of the season.
The Jamaican international hopes to end his 19-year professional career, which included stints at Brentford, Glasgow Rangers and Watford, on a high by tasting Ryman Premier Division play-off success in May.
And Brown insists he would be reluctant to let someone with such experience simply walk away from Kingsmeadow.
"He wants to go into coaching and I would rather he do it with us than anywhere else," he said.
"There is no reason why he can't become a first class coach and we will be sitting down to see how we can help him get his badges.

"But after a successful playing career and various other business interests, it is not as if he needs to do it for the money.
"Coaching takes time and hard work, so it will be a question of whether he has the desire to do it more than anything else."

[italic]italic[/italic] It would be sad to see Marcus just "disapear" as he still has so much to offer. He is an example to every one be they on the pitch or off it in the meaning of the word respect and how to conduct yourself.
