Dons boss Brown eyes centre half

AFC Wimbledon's stretched defence will receive a boost ahead of the weekend with boss Terry Brown expected to swoop for a replacement for the US-bound Antony Howard.

The 24-year-old quit the club earlier this month to take up a coaching role in New York and the Kingsmeadow chief has admitted his departure has left a hole in his squad that needs filling.

"Frankie's departure has left us without some legs in the back four and that has become more apparent since he has left," he said.

"I just feel we need to get some young legs to cover in behind our two excellent and experienced central defenders, Jason Goodliffe and Marcus Gayle.

"We have to get someone in before the March 31 cut off point and I would like to think I will sign someone on Thursday in time for Saturday's game with Horsham."
