Mark Beard is spending this week searching high and low for a goalscorer that will end Tooting & Mitcham's current woes.

The Terrors' poor run was extended to one win in nine league games on Saturday when they lost 2-1 at home to Hastings United.

Ashley-Paul Robinson scored from the penalty spot but with Leon Constantine and Wade Small departing this week and Andre McCollin still out injured, it is a striker Beard desperately needs.

"We really need a goalscorer," he said.

"We are having lots of possession and are creating chances but we need someone to put them in the net.

"So this week we are trying really hard to get one before we go to Bury on Saturday.

"Leon and Wade have gone as we had a massive squad of about 18 or 20 players and, with where we are in the league, we really needed to cut that."

Beard did give a debut to former Brentford youngster Kyle Vassell on Saturday, singed on dual registration with Sutton United, and was much more pleased with his squad's efforts this week than he was last, when he publicly slammed his squad for their display against Met Police.

"The boys battled all the way to the end and we had a lot of young lads out there," he said.

"We really didn't have any luck and although we got one penalty, we should have had another.

"We keep saying to the lads we have to turn this around and start winning matches but they are not getting the luck at the moment."

The Terrors host Croydon Athletic in the fifth round of the London Senior Cup on Thursday.
