I cannot quite understand how Sutton United did not pick up all three points against Hemel Hempstead on Saturday.

It seemed to be game, set and match to United with a few minutes to go, but a cracking goal and a complete fluke stole two points away from us.

Despite this devastating twist to the game, one point is better than none and with Ebbsfleet only drawing as well, it is no disaster – although the term "missed opportunity" springs to mind.

To be perfectly honest, it was nearly impossible for any football to be played on a very waterlogged pitch and United did very well given the circumstances.

Tom Bolarinwa was the stand out player once again, though nobody really had a bad game.

Given the strong performance the late blow will be particularly hard to take, and the game against in-form Margate at the weekend will be a huge test for us both physically and mentally.

It will be interesting to see what kind of team is sent to Knaphill tonight.

It might be nice for a few of the players to get the Hemel disappointment "out of their system" by playing and hopefully winning, but on the other hand it’s important to avoid any more injuries and suspensions.

Either way, Paul Doswell’s men must be raring to go on against Margate at the weekend in what could be a crucial clash in the race for a play-off spot, or even the title.
