Gillingham have confirmed that former Sutton United goalkeeper Jason Brown has left his role as a goalkeeping coach.

The former Welsh international had rejoined United earlier in the summer after a season at Dartford.

However, only a few days before the first pre-season game the 33-year-old told boss Paul Doswell he was leaving Gander Green Lane for the Priestfield stadium.

Doswell acted quickly to recruit former AFC Wimbledon keeper Ross Worner - who has impressed in United colours.

A Gills spokesman said: "Gillingham FC can confirm that Jason Brown has left his role as goalkeeping coach with immediate effect.

"Jason has decided to pursue his coaching career elsewhere, and we wish him will in his next position."

When he made the move to League One Gills, Brown told Kent Online: "It's a dream come true.

"I've been doing my coaching now for a couple of seasons part-time at Arsenal and Millwall and when the opportunity came up to come back to this great club it was too good to turn down."

The dream lasted only three weeks.
