Molesey Church vets regain cup
Molesey Community Church Football Club won the Southern Area Christian Football League Veterans' Cup in an entertaining game against Richmond's Duke Street Baptist Church.
In the final, held at Molesey FC last week, a close game was divided by a brilliant Mark Hallala header from a Dave Simms cross on 55 minutes.
Chances to score again were missed and an equaliser from Duke Street's Mark Cooper after 86 minutes took the game to extra time.
Molesey's Andy Litchfield broke down the wing and set up Stuart Peters, who fed Russell Wyeth to put Molesey 2-1 up in the first period of extra time.
Soon after, a 30 yard free-kick into the top left-hand corner by Ian Pendry secured the game.
Thus a 3-1 victory to Molesey CCFC was enough to regain the trophy won last season for the first time.
Molesey squad: Jason Pugh, Graham Beadle, Paul Morris (Captain), Tony Doe, Mick Duthie, Neil Burnham, Kevin Harwin, Stuart Peters, Jonny Martin, Kevin Henderson, Dave Simms, Russell Wyeth, Kevin Valentine, Andy Litchfield, Ian Pendry, Mario Vella, Mark Hallala, Mark Blythe.
