The Ryman Premier League table makes much happier reading for Leatherhead fans after a successful Christmas and new year programme.
Two thumping 4-1 wins against fellow strugglers Horsham and Tooting & Mitcham were followed up with a 1-1 draw against high-flying Met Police on Monday to take them fourth bottom and within three points of safety.
Central to their five-game unbeaten run has been the form of last season’s top scorer Tommy Hutchings, whose remarkable goal against Met – scored from close to the corner flag – added to his strike against Horsham and his two long-range efforts against Tooting, where Billy Manners also scored twice.
Richard Brady’s side go to another relegation-threatened team, East Thurrock United, on Saturday.
