Mark Beard believes Kiernan Hughes-Mason can make an impact at conference level after leaving Tooting & Mitcham for Kettering Town last week.
The former Millwall youngster moved to Mark Stimson's side on Wednesday after playing in the Tuesday night 4-0 loss to Cray Wanderers.
"When he left Millwall in the summer he tried his hand at a few professional clubs but it didn't work out," explained Beard.
"The agreement was he would come here on non-contract terms and put himself in the shop window.
"It was a short-term solution for us and we knew he was going after the Cray game.
"He wants full-time football and when offers come in for footballers to get that, it is a good opportunity for them.
"Mark was my manager at Stevenage and he is one of the best I have worked with and Kiernan will do well there."
Lee Newman returned from injury to earn Tooting a 1-1 draw with Harrow Borough on Tuesday night.
They host Aveley on Saturday.
