Terrors launch search for next Antonio

9:39am Wednesday 13th May 2009

Tooting & Mitcham United is expanding its youth set-up in its search to find the next Michail Antonio.

Antonio came through Tooting’s junior teams into the first team before landing a professional contract with Reading last season.

Director of football Nigel Wood said: “Next season, we will field football teams from U6 to U18.

“The reserve team becoems a youth development squad, supporting the first team with those youth players on the brink of breaking into semi-professional football.

“All this will provide a clear path for those with ability to progress right through the ranks into the first team and beyond.”

Trials will be held on astroturf pitches at the Hub in Bishopsford Road on the following dates: Saturday, June 6: U6s-U7s (11.15am-12.30pm), U8s-U9s (12.45-2pm).

Sunday, June 7: U10s-U11s (10am-11.15am), U12s-U13s (11.30am-1pm), U14s-U15s (1.15-2.30pm).
