Jim'll fix it: The new Sutton boss Paul Loughlin from-the-lane.co.uk

Brentford boss Andy Scott has backed new Sutton United chief Jimmy Dack to bring back the glory days to Gander Green Lane.

The 35-year-old started his 12-year playing career at United in the early 1990s before a dream move to then-Premiership side Sheffield United for £75,000.

Epsom-born Scott, who was forced to quit playing at the age of 32 because of a heart defect, played alongside Dack at Sutton, and believes his former team-mate can turn around the club's following relegation from Blue Square South.

And he did not rule out giving his pal a helping hand next season should the need arise.

"I still have a lot of friends at the club and it is disappointing to see they have had such a poor season," Scott said.

"He is turning things around already and I hope he can get them promotion. With their history, they deserve to be higher up the ladder.

"Jimmy is a nice bloke and knows his stuff.

"He has been doing some scouting for me in the lower leagues and, if there is an opportunity, we may be able to send some of our younger players out to Sutton on loan."
